Deep Breath Before The Plunge

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

The most exhilirating and in the same breath terrifying thing about a new job is the great unknown of it all. The coworkers, the clientele, and the job itself.

Hopefully, the day goes well.

What A Life.

So after hours of frantic searching Consie & Mommy were exasperated and elated all at once when our cat Tabby was no longer lost. She was actually hiding in a nice cushy spot till the commotion of the HVAC repair crews left.

Which brings me to this scene as I prepared to leave for work.

Lazy, adorable bum sure looks comfortable doesn’t she?

Strong Republic, Strong Pila.

It so happened that I  needed to visit the Phil. Consulate General office on 5th ave, NY.

That clock above me turned all of fifty minutes so that I may ask a question of the gentleman behind the window, that took all of three  minutes.

Mull on that. One hour bus and two trains, plus fifty minutes of waiting, to find out that the file I needed might have been lost in the  bureaucratic maze that is that office.

One part of me wanted to yell at Mang Felix and Hector (?) but I could not. Despite some testy comments & insuinating potshots by the pinoys  beside me, I held my tongue.

No …. This is squarely on the head of the boss there. Either insufficient personnel, poor lay out, or ill-conceived operating concepts. It was so familiar to me …

Then I remembered trying to enroll in FEU. Long lines at the CAP building. The long, long wait.

It felt like home!

Haha.

All that was lacking was a shifty eyed fella coming over and offering ‘ Gusto mo express? Bayad ka lang (insert exorbitant amount here) para  mabilis. ‘

Funny, I suddenly think of how akin to a fish-out-of-water it will be when I come home.
