A Thousand Sighs

I realize it is a bit late, but this emotional piece rendered by a child on display near the entrance of the WTC summarizes at an individual level the human tragedy that befell us all that day in September.

Be Afraid …

Be very afraid!

I have found a new outlet to totally waste my time on.

Behold, the number one issue of …

Astonishing Adventures of the Aguilas!

I know, it is just another web comic. But humor me! Click on the thumb nail, then

let me know what you think. Or give me gobs of money, so I could do this full time.

Either one will do.

Heh.

Great Day Even With Crappy Coffee

Great Day Even With Crappy Coffee

Consie, Mom & I went out to atlantic city this weekend.

As per Gimik Law #4 ” Time spent Planning is inversely proportional to Likelihood of Event taking place. ”

It was a fun albeit tiring day & evening trip ending with a Times Square visit in all of its teeming masses & blazing neon light glory.

Much joy (& feet soreness next day) was had by all.

But Snack&Wheels at Port Authority? I beseech the retail gods to strike down thou coffee machine, for it is inhumane to charge $1.65 for that lousy cup that tastes like watered down sludge sandwater.

Otherwise, it was a great trip!

Cruelty Begets Bad Things

Monday, September 12th, 2005

So Consie was telling me about this girl she worked with in the past … she was a Filipina who worked in a muticultural workplace, so the non-Filipinas asked her:

" Oh so do you and Consie come from the same place ? "

Which got a terse reply of:

" Oh no, I am from Makati! "

This was made all the more humorous maybe a few weeks later when upon scrutiny of her Friendster Profile, the Home Town was Isabela, and the Makati part of her stay was as a student in a school there for maybe two or three years, tops.

Personally, it is no big deal where you are from, really. But what I was able to infer from this line was that she had a notion that declaring herself as a native of Makati instead of Isabela somehow … increased her worth. I could just imagine her early years in the Big City Lights of Makati, how she could have recieved ridiculous "Makati Girls"cattiness like:

" Oh, you are from Isabela ? " (insert snort here)

which sounds suprisingly similar to the line:

" Oh I am from Makati!  "

upon moving to the US.

Morality Tale:

#1. Do not judge a person by his national or local origin: it breeds anger and haughtiness. And exposes your stupidity as a human being.

#2. If you are going to make a cover story, make sure your Friendster Profile does not betray you.

#3. Can’t we all just get along ?

Wedding Wooziness

I have heard that planning a wedding could be a difficult task.

Little did we know just how hard as simple as drafting a tentative guest list would be.

Oh, and she was ok. That was just Unexpected-Number-of-Guests Syndrome that temporarily overwhelmed her.

Experimentation Implies Occasional Failures

The problem with gastronomic adventure is one occasionally walks and eats right into unpleasantness.

The hot dog/sausage place trumpeted favorable NY Times reviews & articles: so we tried it out.

Two dry sausages & unappetizing sides later, we were glad only ten dollars were sacrificed for this ill-conceived fling.

Buyer beware!

Cats Have It Easy

" Gosh, life is so darn good.

I am so bored though.

Maybe I will nap now. Or eat. Or better yet,  I think I will just stay riiiiiigght here.

Ruminating ones’ existence is so tiring. "
